Why carry naloxone?
Overdoses can happen to anyone using opioids.
If someone is unresponsive and you think it might be an overdose, it's always safe to give naloxone. If it isn't an opioid overdose, naloxone won't cause harm — but it can save a life.
You can also give more than one dose if needed. Call 999 and stay with the person until help arrives.
What is naloxone?
Naloxone is a medicine that can restart breathing if someone overdoses on opioids. It starts to work in minutes and can keep a person alive until an ambulance arrives. It only works on opioids and is not harmful if given by mistake.
