Cookies and privacy

We care about your privacy and want you to feel confident using our website. This page explains what information we collect when you visit, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Who looks after your information

CDAS is delivered in partnership by WithYou and BAC O’Connor.

  • WithYou is the data controller. This means WithYou is legally responsible for deciding how your information is collected, used, and protected.
  • BAC O’Connor also has access to your information, but only so they can provide you with support as part of the CDAS partnership. Both organisations follow the same strict data protection standards.

Your information is stored securely and only shared with staff who need it to provide you with care and support. We never sell your data or use it for advertising.

If you’d like to know more about how your information is used, you can read the full WithYou privacy notice or contact WithYou’s Data Protection Officer at data.protection@wearewithyou.org.uk.

Personal information you share with us

Contact forms

If you get in touch with us through a contact form, we’ll collect the details you share (like your name, email and message). We use this only to respond to you or help with the issue you’ve raised.

Referral forms

If you fill in a referral form, we may collect more detailed information about the person being referred - including health or wellbeing details. We use this information only to:

  • decide if CDAS is the right service for them
  • contact them (or their parent/carer if under 16) to arrange a first conversation
  • provide the right support once they’re with us

Because some of this information is about health, it is classed as sensitive data. We only collect it when it’s necessary, and we handle it with extra care.

We never sell or share this information with third parties.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored on your device to help websites work properly. Some are essential for the site to run. Others, like analytics cookies, help us understand how people use the site so we can improve it.

We use:

  • Essential cookies – needed to make the site work (for example, remembering your cookie choices).
  • Analytics cookies – help us see how the site is used so we can improve it (for example, Google Analytics).
  • Advertising cookies – help us measure and improve our ads on platforms like Google and Meta (Facebook/Instagram). These don’t identify you personally, but they track how ads perform and may show you ads that are more relevant.

You can accept or reject analytics and advertising cookies through our cookie banner. You can also change your choice at any time using the “Manage cookies” link in the footer or the link below.

How we protect your information

Our website and forms use secure technology (HTTPS/SSL) so information is encrypted when it’s sent to us. We also store personal and health information securely, and restrict access to trained staff who need it to provide support.

How long we keep your information

  • Contact forms: we keep your details only as long as needed to respond and resolve your query.
  • Referral forms: we keep referral information in line with our service records policy. This may mean keeping information for a number of years, but only for as long as it’s needed for care, safeguarding, or legal reasons.

Your rights

Under data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct anything that’s wrong
  • Ask us to delete your information (“the right to be forgotten”)
  • Restrict or object to how we use your information
  • Ask us to send your information to you or another service (“data portability”)

To use any of these rights, please contact WithYou’s Data Protection Officer at data.protection@wearewithyou.org.uk.
